A very unsurprising article today but a very out of the blue one as I thought that he was an unwanted man, and im sure Lambert said at some point that he had failed to move him on in the loan window. But anyway I came across this piece from Sky sports, many other sites are reporting this now.Aston

Villa's Stephen Warnock is being linked with a loan transfer to Bolton

Stephen Warnock is among Bolton Wanderers' loan targets after Owen Coyle failed in an attempt to sign the Aston Villa defender before the summer transfer deadline.

The full-back is yet to feature at Villa Park since Paul Lamberttook over as manager and his future has therefore become the subject of speculation.

Coyle was unsuccessful in a bid to take Warnock to the Reebok Stadium before the end of August but he could consider a loan move if it is financially viable.

"Stephen Warnock is a player I've always liked, I've got to say that," said Bolton boss Coyle. "We tried to do something before the deadline with him and it never materialised.

"I don't know if that's been regurgitated or whatever. There's no doubt he's a very good player and a good lad.

"But, again, if we're doing anything as regards loan market, finances will dictate everything we're trying to do.

"The loan market is an avenue that's open to us and it's something we always look at. But I think it would be wrong to say we're close to signing any individual player at this moment in time."

Could be a good option for the lad, he's not going to get any kind of competitive football at villa, not yet anyway. If he does sign on loan he might be able to get some match fitness and if he can get a good season under his belt at Bolton Lambert might reconsider him.

Stephen Warnock: Has joined Championship side Bolton on a three-month loan deal

Bolton have confirmed the signing of Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock on a three-month loan.

The former Liverpool defender was out of favour at Villa Parkfollowing the arrival of new boss Paul Lambert in the summer.

The 30-year-old had been training with the youth team in recent weeks and was close to a move to Bolton on deadline day, but a deal failed to materialise.

However, Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has retained an interest in the full-back, moving quickly to seal a loan deal until the end of the year.

"Stephen is a player that I have always liked and one that can play in a number of positions, which is very important in the Championship," he told the club's official website.

"We tried to get him to the club before the summer transfer deadline but it never came to fruition, so I'm delighted that we have now been able to bring him in.

"He has a terrific pedigree and has moved for large sums of money in his career, so we know his quality.

"He has the right character and it's important that we bring those attributes into the group. He ticks all the boxes and when I spoke to him you could tell how keen he was to come here.

"I have to say there was a lot of competition for his signature. We beat off a host of clubs in the Championship, so we are delighted to get him in."

I want to know what Coyle is smoking these days as one: he wants to sign Warnock and two: he has convinced himself that there were a 'host' of clubs that they had to beat off to get him. Would you care to mention just one of those Coyle, and no your own club doesn't count :D.
